In the '40's , my title was a saying that many loved. The fact is that today, pacifist WH , State Dept., and even some DOD people seem to want that cheese without an effort. A weakened military for the USA has not been something strange. We have been isolationist, imperial, back to isolation in the '20's and early '30's then back to WAR and then to a Cold War. Since Reagan, after the Nam years, the military has regained much credibility. Some in the Carter and Clinton years wanted some of DOD to be sort of a meals on wheels operation. But, foreign events have always dragged the USA back into world affairs and sometimes with an avenging military. Pacifism in the USA was largely a New England ideology from the times of good solid American writers before and after the Civil War. Passive resistance had been a part of that philosophy which MLKing put together in those '50 and '60 Civil Rights struggles. In the '30's socialists in America were all pacifists. At the start of the 20th century, TR began a militant spirit in building the Navy from a book by AT Mahan. Americans have crept back and forth from using their military power and leftists always came out against the military until we had to fight the Nazis. Then, boy howdy, the left-socialist-communist aparatcheks yelled to kill those Germans. They rarely believed it when Red Commies were the issue. Historically, we have had Eugene Debs, Norman Thomas and even fighting Bob LaFollette as socialists-populists who wanted the military to be downplayed in national use. But, since the '60's, the Left in America, the socialists, the communists , the campus activists, became violent themselves in demanding peace, nuclear disarmament and bring the USA to heel so it were. Clinton was an activist but though he never respected the military, cut it not quite to the bone after Reagan had rebuilt it. But as usual, liberal Dems never praised the military and wanted it to stay in the closet as a crazed aunt. Today, we have a full fledged anti-military naif in the WH. In fact, his SECSTATE, Ms.Clinton , though not a military lover probably would use the force we had before Obama would. She will get that chance when N.Korea fires off another rocket . We shall see. Obama has cut the Budget in , of course, the Defense Dept. Words like terrorist, Islamofascist, and even illegals have been cut from the vocabulary of this weakened national state. And the Left wants more. Total nuclear unilateral disarmament if they could get it. Just listen to their big mouths like Pete Stark, Jim Moran, Maxine Waters, Dennis the K from Ohio and many, many more House and Senate lefties. The BHO Admin. has sent military forces now to our SW borders but, but, Ms. Clinton apologized to Mexico for our guns and addicted druggies. Oh, boo hoo. The rage now is to help Calderon fight his own corruption to stop the guns, the drugs, and even , what BHO will not admit to, Islamofascists sneaking across the SW borders into the USA. Weapons' systems have been cut in this latest PorkulasStimulusBudget oink. Since no one in Congress has read this budget mess, it will go through. Some systems are a waste of money but some are not. There are many military blogs out there. One could use RealClearPolitics, or RedState.com or our own townhall.com to find those military blogs. They use up to date military data from experts like Frank Gaffney. Do read some of this material. It will scare the hell out of you. America domestically is in dire straits from the very miscreants who helped cause the economic mess. But, America is also in dire straits internationally, in our national and homeland defense strategy and materiale and with our allies in being able to strike at our foreign enemies due to PC beliefs and policies which actually penalize our military from protecting us. If something is not done about this weakness, then a few banks failing will look like child's play when enemies of the USA ally themselves with global Islamofascism and together pulverize us while utopian planners in the Dem Party try to bring leftist heaven to all 350,000,000 of us.
