First, Constitutionally, where do the Feds have the right to take over banks and corporations and even take their stocks and become shareholders? Well, from the past, there have been people and parties and even professors who called for this to happen. Some liberals like Charles Beard suggested this years ago so that supposed 'evil' banks, railroads, corporations should be punished by the Feds and disbanding or using bankruptcy was in the cards. People like Upton Sinclair, Henry A. Wallace, Keynes, and people in the Kitchen Cabinet of the FDR Administrations debates such tactics. Long ago, Teddy Roosevelt wanted to reign in the corporations who took over many businesses thus keeping other entrepreneurs out of the game. But, now we have states and the Feds acting as if there is not division between the branches of government or division between public and private enterprise. Second, George Will recently wrote an article to say that certain states like Ca. are labs for liberalism. Well, George, that is correct but I also remember years ago Soapy Williams in Michigan. He too acted as if the state had a right to reign in businesses if they did not like their profits. Michigan for generations has slowly penalized the car companies and given the UAW, and before that the AFL-CIO more rights and power. Williams bankrupted the state of Michigan, ala the years it has gone through now under the guv and Stebenow. Yet, the public there keeps electing the same old socialist Dems who tax them out of their gourds. Well, Will says that Ca. now is the greatest lab for failed liberalism. Look what Arnold and the Dems have done. Oh, and since I live here, I can say, I tried lobbying for the Chamber in Sacramento and ran into Dems and Pubs who acted as if business was important but soon found that getting votes from minorities, penalizing profits, driving out corporations with taxes, allowing illegals to flood our infrastructure, all were more important than a healthy economy where all peoples could climb into the middle and upper middle classes. Will points out that for 4 years, more people have left Ca. than came in. We now have 11 % unemployment yet the Dems keep raising the living wage and then tax the hell out of small business so they can't hire anyone. Then too, there are the enviro whack jobs who keep Ca. from getting the oil and natural gas that floods the areas! And of course, SF will not allow Ca. to build any nuclear plants. If this sounds a bit familiar, it is because this is where we are nationally. Since Ca. sets the trends for the nation, what a horror for a future we are going to have nationally if the socialist pacifists continue to set the agenda. As in Ca., the public still elects the same old liberals and gets the same old results and then whines. Yipe. Well, on May 19, I am voting No on all the supposed tax fixes that the Leg. and Arnold have put forward. Let Sacramento suffer for more months as they try to balance the budget as our state Constitution demands. And if they raise more taxes, I hope the ghost of Jarvis arises out of the ground and devours them all!
